Wilson rolls out new Triad ball for game improvers

Equipment

Wilson has launched a new three-piece urethane golf ball which is designed to provide all-pound performance from tee to green for golfers seeking to break 80.

The new Wilson Triad ball is designed to produce reduced spin with the driver off the tee, while increasing speed through the air for a long and stable ball to help golfers find the fairway more often.

The Triad boasts an 85 compression and features Wilson’s thinnest-ever cast urethane cover which offers high levels of friction for maximum club face interaction on short shots and extra spin with mid-to-low irons to attack pins with more spin and feel than ever before.

The patent-pending tri-balanced ball construction creates uniform density from layer to layer – rubber core, thermoplastic layer and super-thin urethane cover – and eliminates any manufacturing inconsistencies inside the ball, ensuring perfect balance and pure roll.

“Wilson engineers have come up with a very special urethane golf ball designed to do everything a golfer is looking for – finding fairways, attacking pins and sinking putts,” said Frank Simonutti, Global Director of Golf Ball Innovation at Wilson Golf. “’The results we’ve seen during our product testing have been incredible, with ‘best in class’ results for speed and distance off the tee and scoring and spin rates with irons when measured against the performance of eight rival golf balls currently on the market.”

The Triad is also offered with an untreated ‘raw’ cover

To achieve the important higher MOI level, Wilson engineers moved the weight from the core to the outside of the ball. The precise transfer of weight not only increased the MOI, but helped achieve perfect balance within the ball that results in straighter shots into the green and straighter putts.

The Triad ball also comes in the uncoated ‘raw’ version – first seen on the Staff Model ball launched last year. The unconventional non-coated finish features the same tri-balanced construction, delivering the purest clubface interaction for unmatched feel and control.

It goes on sale in February with an RRP of £39 per dozen. www.wilson.com
