In 2006 defending Open champion Tiger Woods came to Royal Liverpool Golf Club with one goal – to become the 15th player in history to win consecutive Open Championships.
The golfing hall of famer won his third Claret Jug and 11th major trophy, beating fellow American Chris DiMarco and South Africa’s Ernie Els in an incredible final round.
