When it comes to the short game, the concept of bounce and how to use the bounce properly continues to confuse many golfers. In this video, Layne Savoie, co-founder of WedgeCraft, shows that using the bounce effectively is as easy as a quick adjustment in how you hold the club. On finesse shots, when you open the face of your wedge slightly (about 5 degrees, as many of golf’s greatest players have done), it introduces the bounce, effectively widening the sole of the wedge. This greatly reduces the tendency of the leading edge of the wedge to grab the turf and stop the club dead in its tracks. With more bounce, the club has a much better chance of gliding through the turf without digging. The result is cleaner contact with the golf ball and higher quality shots, more frequently.
