Jon Rahm and wife Kelley welcome second son into family on eve of the playoffs

Jon Rahm has some extra inspiration for Thursday’s start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, even if he might be a little sleep deprived.

On the eve of the first round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Rahm announced on Instagram that he and wife Kelley welcomed their second son with the birth of Eneko Cahill Rahm on Aug. 5. Eneko will be the little brother to Kepa, who was born in early April 2021, just days before the Masters. (For those looking for any trends, Rahm finished T-5 at Augusta that year.)

“We have had an amazing last few days soaking in these amazing moments as a family of four,” Rahm posted. “Now time for the playoffs!”

Yes, the playoffs. Ranked sixth in the world, Rahm enters the three-event postseason at No. 16 in the FedEx Cup standings. The last two years, the seven-time tour winner has finished fourth and second, respectively, at the end, but he’ll have to rally a bit this year, having posted “only” six top-10s after notching 15 in the 2020-21 season. Rahm’s single win this season came at the Vidanta Mexico Open in May. His results have been modest by his standards since then, including a T-12 in the U.S. Open when he was defending his ’21 title, and a T-34 in his last start at the Open Championship.
