Ali Kerns explains what it’s like to work inside the ropes for the PGA Tour

Ali Kerns has every golf fan’s dream job. As a producer for the PGA Tour, Kerns is consistently side-by-side with the best players in the world, filming and editing compelling behind-the-scenes content about professional golf. Kerns, who began her production career making videos for the Clemson Athletic Department during college, takes pride in capturing moments that would otherwise be left unseen.

“I try to look at what everybody else is not looking at,” said Kerns. “I try to give people a behind-the-scenes look, a different look that you’re not going to see on TV of what’s going on at a tournament.”

On this week’s episode of Henni and Hally: Women With Game, Kerns chats with hosts Henni Koyack and Hally Leadbetter about what her day-to-day life is like on Tour, her favorite projects to date, and how she takes advantage of her unique position as a woman in a male-dominated industry.

“People come up to me and say, ‘What do you do? What is your job like? I would love to do that.’ You never know if there are little girls at the tournament or other women that are determined. They could say, ‘Yeah, I could do that!’ That’s what’s exciting about it. I try to focus on the good people versus the negative people,” said Kerns.

Listen to the full episode to hear some of the wildest stories Leadbetter, Koyack, and Kerns have to tell about their experiences working inside the ropes on the PGA Tour. Plus, Kerns reveals some of the methods she used when trying to secure a job in sports film production. Hint: There was a lot of LinkedIn stalking involved.
