On 17 October 1860, eight professionals assembled at Prestwick for a tournament to determine who would be the Champion Golfer.
Each year, The Open returns with the world’s best battling it out across famous links courses to be crowned the Champion Golfer of the Year, and etch their name onto the Claret Jug.
