The Mexico Open dates back to 1944 but will make its debut appearance on the PGA TOUR this weekend at Vidanta Vallarta. World No.2 Jon Rahm arrives as the highest-ranked player in the field and will be looking for his first victory since the 2021 U.S Open at Torrey Pines. 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational winner Abraham Ancer will be hoping to give the home crowd something to get excited about. However, the Mexican-American will have to improve on his recent form if he is going to win, having not achieved a top-10 finish since his T7 finish at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, the last TOUR event played on Mexican soil in November 2021. Former champions teeing it up this weekend include Patrick Reed, Graeme McDowell and Gary Woodland.
