In the opening round of the 2019 Desert Classic, Phil Mickelson was the low man on the day, carding a clean 12-under 60, and grabbing a three-stroke lead over the field heading into Friday.

PGA West’s Stadium Course in La Quinta, California is the host course for the 60th anniversary of the Desert Classic. It is one of three courses in use during the tournament, which includes the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West and La Quinta Country Club. Previous winners Jason Dufner, Jhonattan Vegas, Pat Perez and Charley Hoffman return to La Quinta. In 2018, John Rahm won the CareerBuilder Challenge with a final-round 67, finishing at 22-under 266.
