Scottie Scheffler returns to Austin Country Club to defend his title at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. By doing so, he would become the first person since Tiger Woods in 2004 to do so. The event will see 64 players, split into 16 groups of four compete in a round-robin format. After this, the player with the most points advances to single elimination play. Eight out of nine of the top players in the world with Ryder Cup teammates Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy both teeing it up in Texas. The Spaniard has been grouped with Rickie Fowler who, despite not winning on tour in over four years could prove a formidable opponent, having made the cut in every PGA TOUR event in 2023. McIlroy won the event in 2015 in which was the last WGC Match Play before it moved from Harding Park, California to Austin, Texas. Other notable names to look out for include 2021 winner Billy Horschel, two-time winner Jason Day and World No. 9 Viktor Hovland.
