With one last shot at the Masters coming this week at the Valero Texas Open, Rickie Fowler will lead a bevy of tour pros looking to sneak into the revered major with a win at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course.

Despite being 25th in the FedEx Cup standings, Fowler is on the verge of missing out on a trip to Augusta National for a third straight year. Even so, he’s optimistic that he can end a four-year victory drought and grab the 11th-hour invite. He’ll be joined in the Texas low country this week by World No. 17 Tyrell Hatton (the only top 20 player in the field), Sepp Straka, Chris Kirk and Hideki Matsuyama.

A former Masters champ, Matsuyama will use his time in San Antonio to return to form and shake off the cobwebs after a WD at the WGC-Dell Match Play due to a neck injury.

Just a year ago, J.J. Spaun broke through for his maiden PGA Tour victory and got into his first Masters, while Corey Conners jumped from Monday Qualifier to Masters competitor back in 2019.

Akshay Bhatia will also have his chance to tee off at Augusta next week, as he recently accepted Special Temporary Membership after his runner-up result at the Puerto Rico Open. This accomplishment allows him to accept unlimited sponsor’s exemptions the remainder of the PGA Tour season.

The winner will receive 500 FedEx Cup points and a $1.602 million share of the $8.9 million purse.
